4pm Sanctuary is an hour to find some stillness and space to reflect on everything that is going on in your life. Each month we will have a time of singing, talking, reflecting and listening.
MONTHLY ON A SUNDAY
Welcome to 4pm Sanctuary
Canterbury Cathedral has always been a place of sanctuary where everyone is welcome, and all can find a place of belonging and safety.
Taking place monthly on a Sunday, in the Cathedral Crypt, 4pm Sanctuary is an hour set aside for you to encounter the stillness of this holy place and reflect.
We have loosely given each time together a theme to focus our reflections. These are:
22 March: 'Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.'
19 April: 'Give us this day our daily bread'
24 May: 'And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us'
28 June: 'And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.'
26 July: 'For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.'
4pm Sanctuary is a partnership between Canterbury Cathedral and Canterbury Christ Church University Chaplaincy which was founded in 2018, led by the staff of both institutions to serve the students and young adults of Canterbury.
The event is run by Dave Stroud from CCCU Chaplaincy and Emma Pennington, Canon of Canterbury Cathedral, plus students and you.
We warmly invite you to come along and experience this sacred time of prayer in a holy place.
