On New Year’s Day, we will be open for sightseeing from 1000 to 1700 (last entry at 1600).
Learn how Christmas was celebrated by the Benedictine monks here in the Middle Ages, with pittances and a compulsory bath; how the origins of a popular Christmas carol can be traced in a stained glass window in the Crypt; and even how the Puritans banned Christmas in 1647, resulting in Canterbury’s infamous Plum Pudding Riots!
Dates:
- Thursday 18 December, 11:15-12:30
- Monday 22 December, 11:15-12:30
