Same-sex couples already in civil partnerships or civil marriages, or who have sealed a covenanted friendship, can now be offered Prayers of Love and Faith at Canterbury Cathedral, following a unanimous decision by the Dean and governing Chapter.

These prayers will be offered within regular services of public worship for same-sex couples who love one another and who wish to give thanks for and mark that love in faith before God, and who are part of the Cathedral community.

For the first time in nearly 400 years, worshippers and visitors will see an exquisite carved frieze as intended.

A restoration project begun more than 50 years ago will finally be completed next week, as four new carved stone Angels are carefully installed into a historic frieze in Canterbury Cathedral’s magnificent 15^th-century Chapel of our Lady Martyrdom.

Music lovers will have the chance to dance to hits by Kylie, Madonna, Prince and other artists of the 1980s, as the Silent Disco returns to the magnificent Nave of Canterbury Cathedral on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 August 2024.

On 28 January during Evensong, we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of girl choristers in the Cathedral Choir, with the world premiere of a new anthem by distinguished composer, and former Canterbury chorister, Gabriel Jackson. 

Our girl choristers feature alongside The Harmonious Society of Tickle-Fiddle Gentlemen and a lineup of outstanding professional soloists on a highly-praised new album of previously unrecorded music by Johann Christoph Pepusch. 

We are delighted to announce that a new College of Honorary Canons of Canterbury Cathedral has been named. The College of Canons is made up of lay and ordained people from across our diocese who serve in a variety of roles and are recognised for the distinct contribution they make.

In a momentous occasion, Canterbury Cathedral played host to the proud graduation of fourteen talented students from the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship (CWF). This memorable event took place last week and marked the culmination of their dedication and hard work over the past two years. These individuals, enrolled in the CWF's Foundation degree in Applied Historic Building Conservation and Repair, completed their transformative journey amidst the resplendent surroundings of Canterbury Cathedral.

The Dean and Chapter of Canterbury Cathedral are delighted to announce the appointment of Revd Wendy Dalrymple as the new Precentor, Residentiary Canon Designate and Head of Worship and Events.

We are delighted to announce that much of Canterbury Cathedral's art collection is now free for all to enjoy online with Art UK.

In an exciting pup-date, from Saturday 1^st July to Thursday 31^st August 2023, visitors with dogs will be able to bring their well-behaved four-legged friends into all parts of the Cathedral building.
