Accessibility
If you or a member of your party require additional arrangements to attend any of our Advent and Christmas services - such as a wheelchair space or space for an assistance animal, please email our Events Office at [email protected].
All requests must be received at least four working days before the service date.
Only assistance dogs are permitted at services. Other animals will not be allowed access.
Please note, due to the nature of the building and the demand for places at our major services, we have limited capacity and can only offer up to three companion spaces for each person who requires additional arrangements.

Please note, there is no onsite parking for any of our Christmas services or events.

Journeying to Christmas Reflections
Fridays 27 November & 4, 11 & 18 December, 12:30-13:00 in the Nave
Take a moment to pause amidst the busyness of the season and prepare your heart for Christmas with this short, reflective service of words and music.
Led by Dean David, this peaceful contemplation, inspiration, and quiet anticipation as we journey through Advent towards the celebration of Christ’s birth.

Advent Carol Service †
Sunday 29 November, 17:30-18:30
Begin the season of Advent with this beautiful candlelit service, a reflective 50-minute celebration of waiting and watching for Christmas.
As the church is illuminated by the warm glow of candlelight, each member of the congregation is invited to hold their own candle throughout the service, sharing in this powerful symbol of hope and expectation.
At the close of the service, take the light of Advent with you as you leave, carrying its message into the weeks leading up to Christmas.
St Nicholas Family Service †
Sunday 6 December, 17:30-18:15 in the Nave
Join us and over 200 local school children - involved with our Schools Music Outreach Programme - as we celebrate the story of St Nicholas.
This joyful, short service is aimed at children, but is suitable for all ages to enjoy!
Festival of Carols †
Sunday 13 December, 17:30-18:30 in the Nave
This is a family-friendly service that features a living nativity tableau made up by member of the Cathedral’s Children’s Church, with seasonal musical provided by the Canterbury Youth Choir.
Candlelit Reflection with Organ Meditation †
Sunday 20 December, 17:30-18:30
This simple candlelit service, with organ meditation, is a chance to step away from the commercial hustle and bustle of the city, and reflect on the true meaning of the season.
A reflective service led by Dean David, with organ played by Jamie Rogers.
Cathedral Carol Services †
Wednesday 23 & Thursday 24 December, 17:30-19:00
A traditional service, with seasonal music by our world-famous Cathedral Choir, and readings to tell the story of the birth of Christ.
This is a popular service; queues likely. Doors open at 16:30.
Both Carol Services are un-ticketed; seated on a first-come first-served basis
Family Crib Service
Wednesday 24 December, 10:00-10:45
A short family friendly re-telling of the Nativity story, with music from the Cathedral Choral Scholars and the singing of traditional Christmas Carols.

This traditional night-time communion service ends at midnight, marking the dawn of Christmas Day.

On Christmas Eve night, the miserly and cold-hearted businessman Ebenezer Scrooge embarks upon a journey through his past, present, and future, learning along the way to appreciate the true meaning of Christmas.
A theatrical festive treat for all the family, Dickens’ beloved tale of redemption is brought to the stage at Canterbury Cathedral in an authentic and joyful adaptation from Operation Moonlight.
