Canterbury Cathedral becomes one of three Platinum Partners of newly relaunched Visit Kent
Canterbury Cathedral is delighted to announce that it has joined Visit Kent’s Partnership Programme, a collaboration that will support the Cathedral’s visitor engagement ambitions, while contributing to the continued growth and success of Canterbury and Kent’s visitor economy.
Following the relaunch of Visit Kent earlier this year, Canterbury Cathedral is set to be at the forefront of the county’s revitalised tourism industry as one of three Platinum Partners, alongside fellow iconic Kent attractions, Leeds Castle and Hever Castle.
Kent is a much-loved destination for both UK and international visitors, with a reported 66m trips made in 2024, generating £4.1bn for the local economy. Travel and tourism make up 11% of jobs in Kent.
The Cathedral is already a must-visit destination for visitors from around the world - as part of Canterbury’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, a major pilgrimage destination and as the Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
With the installation of Archbishop Sarah Mullally in March and the creation of The Archbishop’s Camino - a new pilgrimage route leading from London to Canterbury - its enduring appeal is set to continue.
Caireen McGinn, Travel Trade Sales Manager at Canterbury Cathedral said: “Canterbury Cathedral is delighted to be a Platinum Partner of Visit Kent’s Partnership Programme and to work alongside the county’s leading visitor attractions in championing Kent as a world-class destination.
“Through this partnership, we expect to strengthen the Cathedral’s profile across key leisure, group travel and tourism markets, benefit from increased visibility and advocacy, and play a full role in promoting the richness and diversity of Canterbury and Kent to wider audiences.”
Visit Kent is the official authority responsible for supporting and promoting the tourism industry across Kent and Medway, helping attractions and businesses to grow, bringing visitors from around the world.
The new partnership will enable the Cathedral to build meaningful connections across the county, helping to champion Kent as a visitor destination, while raising awareness of the Cathedral’s work and strengthening its role as a leading contributor to Kent’s tourism industry.
Alanna Kite, Strategic Visitor Economy Partnerships Manager at Visit Kent said: “We are thrilled to have welcomed Canterbury Cathedral onboard as a Platinum Partner. As one of Kent’s most iconic and globally recognised attractions, Canterbury Cathedral stands as a magnet for the county, drawing visitors to Kent from around the world.
“As a Platinum Partner, Canterbury Cathedral will help shape Kent’s tourism strategy as we continue to grow our flourishing visitor economy. We look forward to working together to reach new audiences, sharing Canterbury Cathedral’s incredible story with our visitors.”

Canterbury Cathedral is a global landmark — part of a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world’s most iconic cultural and spiritual institutions.
Founded by St Augustine in 597 AD, Canterbury Cathedral is a unique place of worship, a major pilgrimage destination, a masterpiece of art and architecture, and one of the UK’s most visited historic sites. Often referred to as ‘England in stone’, the Cathedral has been at the centre of momentous events and upheavals, as well as a resting place of royalty and saints, for more than 1400 years. Its rich history intrinsically is linked to the nation’s story.
As the Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion and seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, it is also a working community, a place of worship, conservation, learning, and service. The work of the Cathedral – a registered charity - is supported by over 750 staff and volunteers.
