SPECIAL SERVICE
100th Anniversary of the Turning of the Page Ceremony
Saturday 13 June, 11:00 at the Compass Rose
On this day we will mark the 100th anniversary of the first Turning of the Page Ceremony, which took place on 14 June 1926 by Private Stone of The Buffs.
Traditionally, the page was turned by soldiers from Depot the Buffs until the closure of Howe Barracks in1961. Since then veterans of The Buffs of Canterbury Branch of the Regimental Association have carried on that tradition, with support from PWRR.
The pages in three of the books of life will be turned by WOII Johnson BeHarry VC PWRR, Major (Rtd) Peter R White MM (Buffs) and by a member of Queen’s Regt association.
This short service, usually held by the Buffs Chapel, will take place in the Nave on this occasion, to allow more people to join us for this special commemoration.
All welcome.
