Opening Times

Monday to Saturday 10.00 - 17.00 (last admission at 16.00)

Sunday 11.30* - 17.00 (last admission at 16.00)
*Between 11.30-12.30, access is available to the Cathedral grounds and Shop only. The Cathedral church opens at 12.30.

Opening times are subject to change. Occasionally, areas of the Cathedral may be closed to visiting, due to services, special events or for conservation work to be carried out.

To avoid disappointment, please check opening times and upcoming closures before visiting.

 

Upcoming Closures

The Cathedral plays an active role in the community and it, or parts of it, are at times closed for general visiting due to services, special events or for conservation work to be carried out. Therefore, please always check our opening times and closures before visiting.

The Cathedral and Precincts are huge so, even when parts of the Cathedral are closed for visiting, there will be plenty for you to explore.

The following list includes our forthcoming closures. Please contact our Visits Office with any questions about your visit.

Please note that closures are subject to change and for updates please consult this list on the day of your visit.

 

Saturday 2nd May

St Gabriels Chapel will be closed for a service at 15.00

 

Wednesday 6th May

The Nave will be closed from 12.30

 

Saturday 9th May

The Crypt will be closed from 11.00

 

Monday 11th May

The Jesus Chapel will be closed from 11.00

 

Tuesday 12th May

The Nave will be closed from 12.00. Access to the Cathedral for visiting will be via the Dean’s Steps and North Crypt ramp door

 

Wednesday 20th May

The Quire is in use for free organ recitals at 13.15 and 15.30

 

Thursday 21st May

The Quire will be closed between 10.30-11.30

 

Monday 25th to Friday 29th May

The Quire may close early for Visiting Choir Rehearsals

 

Wednesday 27th May

The Eastern Crypt will be in use from 15.00 for a service

 

Friday 29th May

There will be organ tuning today. This does not pose any closures, but it can be audibly disruptive. Ear defenders are available to borrow from our Visitor Centre.

 

Saturday 30th May

The Nave will be in use for rehearsals from 14.00

The Crypt will be in use for Choral Evensong from 16.30 and closed from 16.00

Group visits and school visits must be booked separately; KIDS GO FREE offer does not apply to group or school visits.
