Tickets can be booked online or are available to buy on the day at our Visitor Centre.

By accessing the grounds or buying a Canterbury Cathedral admission ticket, you agree to be bound by our Terms and Conditions of Entry.

 

It is always free to attend a service of worship or come into one of the Cathedral's chapels to pray.

Monday to Saturday 10.00 - 17.00 (last admission at 16.00)

Sunday 11.30* - 17.00 (last admission at 16.00)
*Between 11.30-12.30, access is available to the Cathedral grounds and Shop only. The Cathedral church opens at 12.30.

Opening times are subject to change. Occasionally, areas of the Cathedral may be closed to visiting, due to services, special events or for conservation work to be carried out.

  • live within 4 miles of Bell Harry tower, including within The Precincts
  • are a member of the Cathedral Congregation
  • are immediate family of a Cathedral staff member
  • are a member of any church in the diocese (on the parish electoral roll or equivalent)

Parking in the Cathedral grounds is only available for Blue Badge holders, subject to limited availability and prior arrangement. There are several public car parks nearby.

The Cathedral and Precincts are huge so, even when parts of the Cathedral are closed for visiting, there will be plenty for you to explore.

IMPORTANT- From June 1st, the Cathedral visiting hours will be 10:00-17:00 Monday-Saturday and 12:30-17:00 on Sundays. With last admission at 16:00 all week. 

 

Wednesday 1st - The Nave, Martyrdom, and Southwest Transept

The Nave, Martyrdom, and Southwest transept will be closed until 13:30 today for a private service. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

 

Friday 3rd - The Cathedral

There may be closures on site today, but these are currently still to be confirmed. Please check back regularly before your visit and ask on arrival for any queries.

 

Saturday 4th - The Crypt 

The Crypt will be closed until 13:00 today for the Mariposa Trust Saying Goodbye Service at 11:00. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Sunday 5th - The Chapter House

The Chapter House may be closed from 15:00 today. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Monday 6th - The Cathedral

There will be organ tuning today. This does not pose a closure but can be audibly disruptive. We do have ear defenders available to borrow from our Visitor Centre. 

 

Friday 10th - The Nave, Martyrdom, Southwest Transept, and Chapter House

The Nave, Martyrdom, Southwest Transept and Chapter House will be closed until 13:00 today for a service. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

 

Saturday 11th - The Crypt 

The Crypt will be closed from 11:00 until 14:30 for a wedding. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Monday 13th - The Crypt

The Crypt will be closed from 13:00 today for a funeral. The rest of the Cathedral remains open, and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Tuesday 14th - The Nave, Martyrdom, and Southwest Transept 

The Nave, Martyrdom, and Southwest Transept will be closed from 12:30 for a private service. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

 

Friday 24th - The Chapter House

The Chapter House will be closed from 14:00 today. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Saturday 25th - The Crypt 

The Crypt will be closed from 12:30 for St Luke's Healing Tide Service. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Sunday 26th - The Central Quire

The Central Quire may be closed today. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at the Visitor Centre.

 

Tuesday 28th - The Crypt

The Crypt will be closed until 13:00 today for a funeral service. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Friday 31st - The Chapter House 

The Chapter House will be closed from approximately 15:00 today. The rest ot the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

Monday 10th - The Cathedral

There will be organ tuning all day today. This does not pose a closure but can be audibly disruptive. If you would benefit from using ear defenders, these can be borrowed from our Visitor Centre. 

 

Thursday 20th - The Nave, Martyrdom, Southwest Transept, and the Chapter House 

The Nave, Martyrdom, Southwest Transept, and the Chapter House will be closed all day today for graduations. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or from our Visitor Centre on arrival. 

 

Friday 21st - The Nave, Martyrdom, Southwest Transept, and the Chapter House 

The Nave, Martyrdom, Southwest Transept, and the Chapter House will be closed all day today for graduations. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or from our Visitor Centre on arrival. 

 

Saturday 22nd - The Central Quire 

The Central Quire will be closed all day except for flat-level access. Please speak to a member of staff if you require this. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre. 

 

Tuesday 25th - The Chapter House 

The Chapter House will be closed from 15:00 today. The rest of the Cathedral remains open, and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or from our Visitor Centre on arrival. 

 

Saturday 29th - The Eastern Crypt 

The Eastern Crypt will be closed all day for the Advent Quire Day. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

 

Sunday 30th - The Chapter House 

The Chapter House will be closed from 15:30 today. The rest of the Cathedral remains open and tickets for visiting can be purchased online or on arrival at our Visitor Centre.

Tuesday 9th - The Crypt
