Information for Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means making sure that everyone is safe, happy and well looked after.

It’s about protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults from harm, and making sure they feel supported, listened to, and valued.

Stay with your group
Keep with your family, school group or trusted adult.

Know where to go
Follow signs, stay in public areas, and if you’re not sure, ask for help.

Be aware of others
If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, move away and tell a trusted adult.

Look after your belongings
Keep your things close, and don’t share personal information with strangers.

Trust your feelings
If something feels wrong, it probably is. It’s okay to speak up.

If you ever feel worried, upset, unsafe, or see something that doesn’t feel right...

Tell a trusted adult
This could be a parent, teacher, chaplain, member of staff or the welcome team.

Report it
You can also speak to a member of the Cathedral Safeguarding Team.

You will be listened to
Your worries are important, and we take them seriously.

You are not alone
There is always someone here to help.
