Sing at Canterbury Cathedral
Visiting Choirs
When our world-renowned Cathedral Choir is on holiday, we are very pleased to welcome visiting choirs to sing at our services.
We offer visiting choirs several opportunities to sing at Canterbury Cathedral, Mother Church of the Anglican Communion and one of the great holy places of Christendom.
This not only enriches our daily choral worship but gives singers the opportunity to enjoy the transformative experience of singing in Canterbury Cathedral for themselves.
Visiting Choirs welcome
We welcome a very broad range of visiting choirs, including both church choirs and concert choirs who enjoy singing Church music in this very special place. UK choirs and international choirs are both very welcome. We provide full instructions about the services, so we also welcome choirs who are singing for a service for the first time.
If your choir has not sung here recently, please contact us by email on [email protected] and we will send you an application form. As part of the application, we ask for a recent recording of the choir singing the sort of music that would be suitable as part of our worship. If you would like to find out more before applying for a slot, please feel free to contact us with your queries at the same email address.
In the summer holidays, we like to welcome choirs who can come to sing at the Cathedral for a whole week. There are often opportunities for visiting choirs to sing a weekday Evensong during the half-term holidays in the current year although the summer period and the weekends are generally filled at least a year or more in advance. Please do get in touch with any queries you have about dates and availability if you are unsure.
Informal Midday Recitals
We offer choirs the opportunity to give informal midday recitals in the Cathedral. The recitals take place at midday in the Quire and last a maximum of 30 minutes. Further information and details of fees can be found on the Recital Notes for Choirs, or contact the Visits Office.
You can view scheduled Midday Recitals on our music events page or on our Calendar.
Concerts
Areas of the Cathedral are available to hire for choirs wishing to perform outside visiting/worship times. Please contact the Events Office for availability and terms & conditions.
