Worshippers, visitors and pilgrims will continue to be warmly welcomed to Canterbury Cathedral as The Canterbury Journey landscaping work begins around the Christ Church Gate.
The work, which will significantly improve access to the Cathedral and bring visual coherence to the South Precincts, will see the gate remain closed for significant periods over the next few weeks.
In the meantime, our shepherds will guide visitors to the temporary entrance in our brand new visitor centre and shop.
The Canterbury Journey is a major development programme at the Cathedral to conserve and safeguard the building’s heritage for future generations and enrich the experience of all who visit. This essential work is possible thanks to a generous Heritage Lottery Fund grant. You can view a timeline of the project here.
