Auditions for new choristers to join in 2019 are to be held on Saturday 10 November 2018. Boys, now aged 7 or 8, who enjoy singing, are invited to try out for the choir. All of the 25 choristers attend St Edmund’s School in Canterbury and there are substantial scholarships available.

The Girls’ Choir of Canterbury Cathedral
There will also be auditions for girls in year 8 wishing to join the Girls’ Choir of Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday 24 November 2018.
Established in 2014, the Girls’ Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings and sings regularly at services in the Cathedral. The choir frequently gives concert performances and has made a number of professional recordings. The most recent of these, a Christmas album released by Decca Records, reached number two in the Classical Albums chart in 2017. The choir is fast establishing a reputation as one of the most highly-regarded liturgical choral ensembles in the UK.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview at the Cathedral. During their audition they will be required to sing one accompanied piece of their own choice; sing one unaccompanied piece of their own choice; sight-read a given passage and undertake simple ear tests, including recognising intervals played on the piano and picking out notes from a chord.
The auditions will take place at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge AV Theatre between 16:30-18:30hrs. The closing date for applications is Friday 19 October.
