Canon Clare Edwards is leaving the Cathedral to become Rector of the benefice of BrookDean in the Forest of Dean and in the Diocese of Gloucester.

The Dean of Canterbury, the Very Revd Robert Willis announced to the congregation on Sunday  that Canon Clare, would be leaving in September.

He said: “We congratulate Canon Clare on this appointment and there will be an opportunity later on to thank her for the many years of service that she has given to Canterbury.”

After training as a general and paediatric nurse in London, Canon Clare did her theological training in Lincoln and worked for the first 18 years of her ministry in the Diocese of Southwark. Canon Clare joined Canterbury Cathedral as Canon Pastor in 2004 and has been a member of the Cathedral Chapter.
