Yesterday was a first for the Cathedral when not one but two sets of siblings sang in the Cathedral Choir.
Both Felix and Polly Preston and Anežka and Frederick Butler sang at the annual Epiphany Carol Service.
The service was the first public performance for Anežka – who is one of four new girls to join the choir this year. Her younger brother Fred is somewhat of a cathedral veteran having already spent the past two years as a chorister. Also singing at the service were Felix and Polly Preston who have sung together at Cathedral services before. Felix is the Cathedral’s Senior Chorister, 2018 will be his final year in the choir. Polly has been with the girls’ choir since its formation in 2014.
“The Cathedral choir community is delighted that we now have two pairs of siblings who will sometimes sing together” said Dr David Flood, Master of the Choristers, “we are very grateful for all that they and their families give to the choirs. They have a wonderful time taking part in the great programme of music we produce.”
2018 looks to be a busy year for the Cathedral’s world famous choir with the boys touring America in the spring and the girls about to embark on the release of their third CD, Great British Cathedral Anthems, which they have recorded with the Cathedral Lay Clerks.
