Our organ recital on Saturday evening (19 March 2016) will be given by Ben Bloor, organist at the Brompton Oratory in London.
All are welcome to the recital in the Quire which begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £8 and concessions £6. Ben will be playing a programme including music from JS Bach, Rheinberger, Alain, Bairstow and Karg-Elert.
Ben (24) began his musical education as a chorister at Derby Cathedral and in 2010 he achieved the prestigious organ scholarship at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Ben graduated from the University of Oxford with a first class honours degree in music and whilst at Oxford he was also an organ scholar at New College under the direction of Edward Higginbottom (who is playing a recital at Canterbury Cathedral on 23 April).
Ben, who has also been assistant sub-organist at Rochester Cathedral, currently combines his career as a freelance musician in London with his post of organist at the Westminster church.
