A record year for the Open Gardens

A record year for the Open Gardens

The Cathedral community, with great delight, welcomed over 2,447 people to the Open Gardens weekend held on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May 2015.

The popular weekend event has raised an incredible £16,132.53 for this years nominated charities, making the 2015 event the most successful in the event’s ten year history.

As the gates to all five beautiful historic Canonical gardens were open, visitors had the opportunity to explore and discover the secret areas of this World Heritage Site. In addition to the gardens and green spaces, visitors had the rare opportunity to visit the Bastion Chapel. A fine collection of classic cars were on display on the Green Court and a refreshments’ tent provided a mouth-watering variety of homemade cakes and tea. A birds of prey display set up camp near the Corona as did the ever popular bee keepers.

The money raised from the weekend will be split between the National Garden Scheme (NGS),  Kent Refugee Action Network and Seeds for Africa.
