Open Gardens 2015

Open Gardens 2015

The annual popular Open Gardens weekend returns in 2015.

The historic and beautiful private gardens of Canterbury Cathedral will be open to all on the weekend of the 30 and 31 May 2015.

This popular annual event, which has been held for over 10 years and run in connection with the National Garden Scheme (NGS), unlocks several private and secret gardens within the Cathedral grounds; and in the process, raises money for charity.

The two day event is a must for anyone who loves and appreciates the skill and art of gardening; the talented Cathedral gardeners will be on hand all weekend to answer queries and have plants for sale.

Visitors will have the opportunity to wander around the Precincts, and to wonder at and enjoy the fragrance and beauty of the gardens; relish a lovely slice of homemade cake; and take away a plant providing a potted memory of Canterbury for their own gardens. There will be an opportunity to eyeball birds of prey; see a bee observation hive and purchase honey products; buy plants and refreshments; and enjoy the spectacle of classic cars on the Green Court.

Last year’s Open Gardens raised a record total of £12,398.89 the proceeds were divided to nominated charities, The Pilgrims Hospices and Send a Cow.

The 2015 nominated charities are Kent Refugee Action Network and Seeds for Africa.
