Get ready to unleash your creativity with the ultimate historic brick-building adventure at Canterbury Cathedral!
This October half term, join the renowned Bricks McGee for a series of family-friendly, hands-on model building workshops with LEGO® bricks. Dive into history as you recreate parts of the Bayeux Tapestry, construct a catapult, build majestic local landmarks, or bring to life scenes of Tudor England.
Each workshop consists of three themed activities to complete, and at the end, each participant will be awarded a personalised certificate, celebrating their unique creations and accomplishments!

- Tickets: £10 per person* (does not include visitor entry to the Cathedral)
- Duration: 1 hour per workshop
- Location: Canterbury Cathedral Community Studio
- Suitable for ages 5 and over: Due to the presence of small components, this event is for those aged 5 and over only. To maintain a safe environment for all, no child below this age will be permitted entry to the Studio.
- Ensuring an inclusive experience: We want to provide an enjoyable experience for all. Our Community Studio has step-free access, and our Event Hosts will be ready to assist you. If you need additional arrangements in order to take part in this event, please email [email protected] and we will do all we can to accommodate you.
- Dogs are not permitted in the Community Studio, with the exception of service dogs with valid accreditation.

Towers and Bridges - Challenge your inner engineer with a series of bridge and tower-building tasks.
Local Landmarks - Build a local landmark from LEGO® bricks, and guess what other families have been building.
Catapults - Create a working catapult out of LEGO® bricks, and then compete in a challenge with other builders!
Bayeaux Tapestry – Did you know, many experts think that this famous depiction of the Norman Conquest of 1066 was actually made in Canterbury? Get creative and help us create a segment of the Bayeaux Tapestry entirely out of LEGO® bricks.
Tudors – From Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, to the Mary Rose and the destruction of Thomas Becket’s shrine, the Tudor period was full of historic people and events. Dive back in time as you build key moments from Tudor history with the help of a Bricks McGee master builder.

Please be aware that this is a very popular event and our team will be working hard to admit visitors as punctually as possible. As such, we ask that visitors be patient and work with our Event Hosts so that everybody can enjoy the event.
‘Build and leave’: The workshops are ‘build and leave’ events. Participants will not be able to take their LEGO® builds home with them.
Late Arrivals: To preserve the atmosphere and experience of these workshops, regrettably attendees arriving over 15 minutes after the session has begun will be denied entry. We are unable to offer refunds or exchanges.
Ensuring an Inclusive Experience: Our commitment is to provide an enjoyable experience for all attendees. The Community Studio is accessible via a step-free route, and our Event Hosts and Shepherds are ready to assist you upon arrival. We understand that some guests may need additional arrangements to enable them to participate in this event; if this is the case, please email [email protected] and we will make the necessary arrangements, where possible, to accommodate your needs.
Only service dogs with valid accreditation are allowed on the premises.
Refunds and Exchanges: Please be advised that once a purchase is made, we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges. All sales are final, and your purchase of a ticket for our model building workshops with LEGO® bricks signifies your acceptance of this policy and your understanding of the inherent risks involved in such purchases.
Parking: There is no dedicated parking for this event and car parks in Canterbury will be busy. Blue badge spaces are available within the Cathedral grounds, but these are subject to limited availability and advance booking. We encourage visitors to walk or use public transport where possible. Please leave plenty of time to find parking.
FAQs
Where will I enter and exit?
Entry will be through the Christ Church Gate, located in the Buttermarket. You will need to show your LEGO® Brick model-building workshop ticket to enter the Cathedral Precincts and will then be directed to the queue outside the Community Studio. Tickets will be checked twice to ensure you have the correct workshop. Exit out of the Community Studio is via the Cathedral Shop.
What do I need to show when I arrive?
When you purchase your workshop ticket, you will be sent an email confirmation which serves as your ticket. Please bring this with you – either on your phone or as a printout – and show it to Cathedral staff when you arrive. Taking a screenshot means you don’t have to worry about signal when arriving. Be sure to check the date of your tickets/email confirmation to ensure you do not attend the wrong workshop.
Can I arrive earlier or later than the workshop start time?
Please arrive up to 10 minutes before your booked workshop time to ensure your ticket has been checked. I have purchased the wrong ticket; can I exchange it?
No. Once purchased, tickets cannot be altered, exchanged or refunded.
Is the ticket price the same for all ages and participants?

Does my LEGO® brick model-building workshop ticket allow me entry into the Cathedral?
No. Your model building workshop with LEGO® bricks ticket will only allow you access to the Community Studio for your booked session. You will need a valid Cathedral sightseeing ticket if you also want to explore the Cathedral and Precincts.
Will I have to queue?
Queues are likely for this event, but we will do our best to get everyone admitted quickly and as safely as possible. When you arrive, please join the relevant queue, or as directed by our Event Hosts and Shepherds.
Please dress for the weather, as queuing will be outside.
Do you have toilets?
Yes. These are located next to the Community Studio and are for the exclusive use of model building workshops with LEGO® bricks ticket holders.
Are dogs allowed?
Only assistance dogs are permitted within the Community Studio.
Can I take photos?
Yes, but please only take photos of those in your party, not other workshop attendees.
