Richard Harries was Bishop of Oxford from 1987 to 2006. He is a Fellow and Honorary Professor of Theology at King’s College London and holds a number of prestigious positions in other British Universities.

He has long been interested in the interaction of Christianity and the arts and as Gresham Professor of Divinity from 2008 –2012 he delivered lectures on Contemporary Christian Art, Searching for New Ways and a series on Christian Themes in Art.

A regular contributor to Radio 4’s ‘Thought for the Day’ he is also distinguished author of many books including, The Nativity in Art, Art and the Beauty of God, and The Passion in Art.

In 2006 he was made a Life Peer as Lord Harries of Pentregarth of Ceinewydd in the County of Dyfed and sits on the crossbenches.
