FRIENDS OF CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL

A TALE OF TWO THOMASES: Canterbury and Hereford Perspectives

The Very Reverend Michael Tavinor, Dean of Hereford, has made a study of the shrines of Thomas of Canterbury (Becket) and Thomas of Hereford (Cantilupe) and has found interesting comparisons between the Thomases. He charts the ways in which their two shrines – Canterbury and Hereford – have fared over the centuries. The Dean will also discuss the research he undertook in the Canterbury Cathedral Archives which focused on the failed scheme of 1929-30 to restore the shrine of Becket in Canterbury.

COST: £8 (includes tea and biscuits after the talk) available from The Friends’ Office, 8 The Precincts, or telephone 01227 865292
