The Cathedral’s Learning and Participation team reaches out to the local and wider communities by working with a variety of community partners, organisations and groups, as well as attending festivals and events across East Kent.
We also deliver a programme of activities suitable for all ages and abilities at the Cathedral inspired by the building, its heritage, collections and craft. And young visitors can explore the Cathedral with an Explorer Backpack containing a trail and exploratory tools to help navigate and discover many of the Cathedral’s treasures. Normal precinct charges apply, but Explorer Backpacks (available at certain times during school holidays) and most of the activities are free. Details of planned activities can be found on the What’s On pages.
As part of The Canterbury Journey project a new purpose built, self-contained Community Space and Viewing Gallery will open in 2019 suitable for community activities and uses.
