Canterbury Cathedral has been witness to the passing of centuries and, of course, the famous martyrdom of Thomas Becket. The Schools Department can help bring its history to life as part of a wonderful cross-curricular experience.

  • high quality support and resources relating to the National Curriculum and RE Syllabuses
  • downloadable questionaires for visits by overseas schools
  • guided tours on all subject areas including RE, History, Art, Maths, Literature and architecture & stained glass.
  • a 15 minute Audio-visual presentation introducing the life and history of the Cathedral
  • Audio-tours in 7 languages taking students through the main parts of the Cathedral
  • Activity room sessions led by a qualified teacher providing a range of kinaesthetic activities and workshops relating to the building of the Cathedral and the monks who lived here.
  • costume trails are role play experiences in which children dress up as characters in the history of the Cathedral and have a related tour.
