Closures
The Cathedral plays an active role in the community and is used regularly for local, regional and/or national services and events. This inevitably leads to restrictions on general visiting. Below is a list of forthcoming closures.
To avoid disappointment please always confirm closures before travelling.
Please note: The east end of the Cathedral, including the Quire , will close every day in preparation for Evensong from 16:30 (Monday to Friday) and from 14:30 (Saturday and Sunday)
Cathedral Closures (in addition to normal Service closures)
Monday 16 January
Quire and Trinity Chapel closed until 13.00 hrs for a funeral service.
Tuesday 17 January
Quire and Trinity Chapel closed from 13.00 hrs until 15.45 hrs (Centre Quire closed from 10.45 hrs) for Stowting School Service.
Thursday 19 January
Nave closed until 11.00 hrs for furniture moving.
Friday 20 January
Nave closed until 11.00 hrs for furniture moving.
Saturday 21 January
Last admission to the Cathedral is at the earlier time 16.00 hrs to allow preparations for the Canterbury Choral Society Concert.
Rehearsals for this concert will take place in the Nave during the afternoon.
Choral Evensong is at the later time of 17.30 hrs.
Monday 23 January
Nave closed until 11.00 hrs for furniture moving.
Friday 27 January
Nave and Chapter House closed all day for the Canterbury Christ Church University graduation ceremonies.
Monday 30 January
Nave and Quire closed from 12.00-16.00 hrs for the funeral Service of comedian Dave Lee. The Service starts at 14.00 hrs.
Thursday 2 February
Crypt closed from 12.45 - 15.30 hrs for the funeral Service of the late Mrs June Goodwin.
Saturday 4 February
Crypt closed all morning until 13.30 for Matins and the annual Cursillo Service.
Monday 6 February
Nave closed until 11.00 hrs for furniture moving.
Saturday 18 February
Crypt closed from 11.00 hrs until 13.45 hrs for a Wedding Service.
Saturday 25 February
Crypt closed from 11.30 hrs until 14.15 hrs for a Wedding Service.
